Call To Action

Confronting Systemic Racism

We join our voices with those calling not only for justice and accountability in the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and many others, but for systemic reforms to the criminal justice system. The women of Mormon Women for Ethical Government are not willing to be complicit by being complacent. We invite all to join us as we act to confront and dismantle systemic racism. Read some background information here and then share your letter to be a witness.

Write a Letter

In the words of Charlotte Mountain, MWEG's anti-racism lead: "Write a letter. To the police chief, to the mayor, to the justice department. Even if you did it yesterday, do it again today, and tomorrow and every day. Write it again and again and again. Don’t move on to the next thing. This is the man that you saw die."
We have been witnesses to the killing of George Floyd and so many others. Here are some ideas for where to start. You can also write to media outlets to hold them accountable for their coverage of police violence.

After sending your letters, please share them with MWEG here to be highlighted on our WeWitness website.
