Take Action: April 11, 2017 Demand transparency regarding conflicts of interest
We still need to know how conflicts of interest are impacting Trump’s decisions. This video shares some of the many reasons we need this information. Ready? Here are some actions you can take!
Join the April 15th Tax March, which is shaping up to be the largest nationwide protest since the January 21 Women’s March on Washington; 43 states and five countries were signed up last I checked.
Call your MoCs to urge them to support The Presidential Conflicts of Interest Act of 2017 (S.65/H.R.371). Possible Script: Hi. This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP]. I’m calling because I want [Sen/Rep____] to support (S.65/H.R.371), which would require the President to divest financial assets which create a conflict of interest. I’m very concerned about the appearance of corruption and think this legislation would go a long way to solving the problem. I appreciate your time!
Call you MoCs to demand a vote on legislation requiring POTUS tax disclosure. More information and a script about the bipartisan House (HR 305) and Senate (S 26) bills can be found here.
If you are from Utah, as you make your calls and write your postcards, remember that Senator Hatch chairs two committees with the power to subpoena Trump’s tax returns, the Joint Committee on Taxation and the Senate Finance Committee. Any time we contact him, we need to remind him that this is the way for the American public to know when our best interests are being ignored for Trump’s conflicts of interest.
