Take Action: April 28, 2017 If you support public lands, make your voice heard

This week Trump signed an EO to allow national monument designations to be rescinded or reduce the size of sites as the administration pushes to open up more federal land to drilling, mining & other development. If you are concerned about the fate of public lands, let Interior Secretary Zinke and the Department of the Interior know that you support the protection of public lands & national monuments. More information & talking points (specific to Utah, but can be adapted).

  • Call the Dept of Interior, Office of the Secretary: (202) 208-7351, dial “0” to leave a comment.
  • Call the BLM Public Land Inquiry Line (202) 912-7780. The BLM is a division of the Interior Department. This phone number has been set up to take public lands comments, & calls here will be counted.
  • Write an email to Secretary Zinke at exsec@ios.doi.gov. Tweet him at @SecretaryZinke. Or go old school & write a snailmail letter to the National Park Service, another division of the Interior Department which will assist with Zinke’s review:

Michael Reynolds, Acting Director of the National Park Service
1849 C Street NW
Washington, DC 20240

  • 31 senators, led by Tom Udall (D-NM), have sent an open letter to Trump objecting to the EO, saying, “Americans care deeply about the National Monuments & their voices should be considered if you proceed with any potential changes to the monument designations.” You can also contact Trump via email or phone: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact.
  • On Twitter, there is a hashtag associated with critique of this EO: # MonumentsforAll
