Take Action! March 2, 2017 Call for the resignation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.

Call your senators (script below) to request that they call for the resignation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.  Even though Sessions has recused himself, it is unacceptable for the leading law enforcement official in the country to have committed a crime himself by lying under oath.
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [CITY, ZIP].
I’m calling to request that [SENATOR/REP NAME] call for the resignation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General. It is unacceptable for the leading law enforcement official in the country to have committed a crime himself by lying under oath. Recusing himself from leading all investigations that involve the Trump campaign and/or administration is a good step, but insufficient.
Thank you for your hard work answering the phones.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On March 1st, the Washington Post reported that Jeff Sessions met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the campaign season while he was a Trump associate. This explicitly contradicts Sessions’ testimony under oath during his Senate confirmation hearing to be Attorney General when he said, “I did not have communications with the Russians.” In addition to this false statement, Sessions answered a written question about whether or not he had had any contact with Russian officials with a one-word answer, “No.” It was not illegal or against any rules for Sessions to meet with the Russian Ambassador during the election; he could have disclosed that fact to the Senate. Instead, he chose to lie–or at least purposely mislead members of Congress–about his past communication with Russian officials, which raises more questions of what those conversations might have entailed.
There has been growing pressure for Sessions to recuse himself from leading all investigations that involve the Trump campaign and/or administration because of his personal participation in them. Now, several members of Congress, including Elijah Cummings and Elizabeth Warren, are calling for Sessions to completely step down as Attorney General. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi stated, “Now, after lying under oath to Congress about his own communications with the Russians, the Attorney General must resign. Sessions is not fit to serve as the top law enforcement officer of our country and must resign.”
