Take Action: October 18, 2017 Stand by those who have been sexually harassed or assaulted

In light of the #MeToo postings on social media, consider reading this op-ed by Mormon Women for Ethical Government member Holly Tree Richardson. Then choose how you will stand by those who have been sexually harassed or assaulted. Some ideas that Richardson suggests include:

  • Hear and believe the people in your lives. Stop making excuses for why it’s “not that bad.”
  • Speak up when you see or hear inappropriate behaviors taking place.
  • Teach our children from the youngest age that they can say no to any touch from anyone and that includes kisses, hugs and sitting on laps of relatives.
  • Stop glorifying those perpetuating these behaviors because they are rich, famous, or are in positions of power.
