Take Action: September 25, 2017 Urge funding for bipartisan Children’s Health Insurance Program

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is set to expire on Sept. 30.  A bipartisan bill to continue it has come out of the Senate Finance Committee.  It starts out with federal matching rate of 23% as now directed by the ACA, but with a dwindling rate over the five-year span of the bill.   If the CHIP program is not continued, millions of lives could be at risk.

We can let our senators know that we want this extremely successful program to continue to help our kids.  More information at 5calls.

Possible Script:

Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [TOWN].

I’m calling to urge Rep. Vacant to pass a bipartisan reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program before the funding lapses on September 30th. Millions of children rely on this funding for insurance, and its reauthorization should not be held hostage to score partisan victories.

Thank you so much for your time.
