Advancing Democracy
Ask Congress to Defend Their Power of the Purse
On August 29, 2025, the White House submitted a "pocket rescission," canceling $4.9 billion in congressionally approved foreign aid. By issuing the rescission request with fewer than 45 days left in the fiscal year, the administration ensured Congress could not act before the funds would expire. The implications of this action are profound. Constitutionally, a pocket rescission undermines Congress' exclusive "power of the purse" and sets a dangerous precedent for unchecked executive authority.
Support the Building Civic Bridges Act
The Building Civic Bridges Act was reintroduced in the House of Representatives on July 10th. This bill, which has broad bipartisan support, establishes an Office of Civic Bridgebuilding to research civic bridge building and social cohesion and support bridge-building initiatives throughout the nation.
Urge Our Nation's Leaders to Protect Checks & Balances
We must call upon the leaders from every branch of government to defend our constitutional rights, maintain the necessary checks and balances, and guarantee the appropriate separation of powers.
Environment
Ask the EPA to Preserve the Endangerment Finding
If the endangerment finding is revoked, the EPA will be unable to classify greenhouse gases as pollutants, nor will it be able to authorize and enforce rules related to climate change and its health impacts. All comments must be received by September 15, 2025.
